Kellum Farm (Circa 1838)
444+/-ACRES – TIMBER AND HUNTING
Talbot County, Georgia
The Kellum Family and other pioneers arrived in west central Georgia in the early 1800’s and helped establish a community known as Rough Edge. George Kellum and Missouri Ann Gordy were married in Matthews Chapel Methodist Church (c. 1832), which still stands as an active church and a landmark of the Rough Edge community.
Today, George Kellum’s great-great-grandchildren own the Kellum Farm he established carrying on with his good stewardship. When they revisit the property there are reminders of days gone by. Alongside Kellum Road an old Magnolia tree stands at the site of the Kellum home place, and a sawdust mound not far away, is a reminder of commercial timber harvesting on the property decades ago.
Roads and trails throughout the Farm take one up and down the rolling hills over four hundred acres of managed upland planted pine and scenic hardwood bottoms. It is a quiet place to live, and a getaway to hunt, hike, relax and enjoy nature. Talbot County is known for its excellent hunting for Whitetail Deer and Eastern Wild Turkeys.
This property represents an excellent investment opportunity one can enjoy being conveniently located to Columbus and Atlanta. It is also 23 miles from Pine Mountain and 6 miles from Waverly Hall.
