1032.39 ACRES ON THE COOPER RIVER

NEAR CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

Salt Point is a hunting plantation located north of Charleston, South Carolina on the Cooper River. The property covers nine historic rice fields, over five hundred acres of pristine woodlands and has almost two miles of river frontage. It is said that Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, was born on Salt Point or nearby. This is not surprising since this bountiful area has been used by hunters, woodsmen and marksmen for centuries.

In recent years the plantation has been used as a private hunting club for deer, turkeys and especially ducks. The area along this stretch of the Cooper River is covered by historic plantations with thousands of acres of rice fields. The river, creeks and marshes here provide outstanding habitat for all types of migratory waterfowl. Fishing is excellent, too. Largemouth bass and bream can be caught in the rice field canals and striped bass make springtime runs in the river. There is plenty to see and do at Salt Point and this wonderful place is located just one hour from downtown Charleston.
