Silver Hill Plantation is located on the Sampit River near the historic seaport of Georgetown, South Carolina. The plantation was established in 1734. Crops grown here supplied the local militia during the American Revolution and Union troops used the house during the War Between the States. After the war in 1865 the house remained abandoned but was so well built that it survived for over 130 years until it was restored to its original splendor by its present owner. The recent restoration is work of art. The house has been totally modernized and large porches were expanded to take in the beauty of the rice fields and landscaped grounds. The rooms are spacious and the views are spectacular.

Improvements include equipment sheds, horse stables, dog kennels, two cottages, and a manager’s house. Part of Silver Hill is a beautiful wooded island on the river’s edge and accessible by vehicle. There are several dock sites. The Sampit River flows through Georgetown into Winyah Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. There is offshore and inshore fishing. Silver Hill is located in a wonderful part of the world with plenty to do year round.
Today the plantation is used primarily for timber production and hunting. There is approximately $2,200,000 in merchatable timber. The gently rolling land contains expanses of long leaf pine quail woods which also has deer, and wild turkeys. Over a hundred and sixty acres of managed rice fields attract migrating waterfowl, and there are two dove fields.
