Exchange is a historic waterfront plantation situated in the prestigious Plantersville District of Georgetown County on the banks of the Pee Dee River. The property traces its roots to a 1735 Land Grant from King George II. Neighboring plantations include Chicora Wood, Breakwater, Rosebank, Hasty Point, Glenmore and Arundel. At its peak in the 1840’s this area was producing 50% of the rice exported from America and coastal Georgetown became one of the wealthiest cities in America.
Today, Exchange is known for its hunting, fishing and exceptional beauty. There are open pine woodlands, hardwood forests, clover fields, bass ponds and waterfowl impoundments providing habitat for deer, turkeys, doves and especially all types of ducks. The house and grounds are stunning. The main house and rice Barn are on the National Historic Registy.
Exchange has not been for sale in over 80 years.
