Hines Hill Plantation and Mandalay
4345 acres between Thomasville, Georgia and Tallahassee, Florida

In the late 1800’s much of the Southwest Georgia plantation land near Thomasville was acquired by wealthy northerners because of the mild climate, the exceptional hunting and easy access by rail. These properties were changed from working farms into winter residences and operated for recreational purposes, primarily quail and duck hunting. Some of the plantations in this area have been in the same families for more than one hundred years. Hines Hill is one of these properties.

Hines Hill and Mandalay are two similar size tracts in proximity and operated under one owner. The stately main house and most of the improvements are located on the Hines Hill tract. While Hines Hill contains more hardwood areas for deer and turkey along with several lakes, the larger tract known as Mandalay is one of the prettiest quail places one will ever see. The two combined provide a rich diversity of land types with a variety of scenery, fish and wildlife.

The southern property boundary of Mandalay is the Georgia-Florida line. Just south of the line is Lake Iamonia which is one of Floridas finest freshwater fishing lakes while providing food and roosting areas for migratory waterfowl. Lake Iamonia is pronounced "I-monia" and is named after a Seminole town “Hiamonee,” which was located on the banks of the Ochlockonee River. This beautiful stream flows just past Hines Hill and empties into the Gulf of Mexico in Appalachicola.
