Greenwood Mills Farm

Greenwood Mills Farm (351 Acres) is located between Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina near the small town of Ninety Six. It is 9 miles from the town of Greenwood, the county seat. This beautiful farm has been used by Greenwood Mills for corporate entertainment for more than forty years. The property is perfectly suited for this purpose. The land is characterized by gently rolling terrain with pastures, mature woodlands, fishing lakes, a dove-field and a floodable duck pond. The scenery is spectacular. The farm has been managed for game and has abundant populations of deer, doves, and wild turkeys. Wilson Creek forms part of the southern boundary of the property. Improvements include a manager’s house, equipment sheds, a barn, and the “cookhouse” used for picnics and BBQ’s. Because of the property’s beauty, unique physical characteristics, location, and extensive paved road and water frontage it would lend itself to long-term development. Presently, there are potential tax benefits for a buyer willing to restrict the property from future development.

Offered for $1,300,000.

Greenwood Mills Farm is two miles north of the small town of Ninety Six, South Carolina. The unusual name of the town was bestowed upon it by traders who mistakenly believed that 96 was the number of miles from the town to the Cherokee village of Keowee to the north. During the French and Indian War of the mid 1700s, the town was twice attacked by the Cherokee. Ninety Six figured prominently in the Anglo- Cherokee War and also in the Southern Campaign of the

American Revolution. The first land battle of the Revolution south of New England was fought here in 1775, and in 1780 the British fortified the strategically important frontier town. From May 22 to June 18, 1781 Major General Nathaniel Greene with 1,000 patriot troops, staged the longest (yet unsuccessful) siege of the Revolutionary War against the 550 American Loyalists who were defending Star Fort in Ninety Six, which is now a National Historic Landmark.
