Woodside Plantation is located in South Carolina approximately 50 miles from the Savannah, Georgia airport.  462 acres of manicured pastures, fields and forests surround a magnificent Colonial Revival house situated at the end of a scenic oak-lined drive.  This beautiful and historic property has been immaculately maintained and is protected under a conservation easement with the Nature Conservancy.

Woodside is located near Estill, South Carolina on the old Augusta Stagecoach Road that parallels the north side of the Savannah River.  Other well known plantations and hunting retreats dot this stretch of land for more than 100 miles inland from Savannah and the Atlantic Ocean.

The Land contains a total of 462 beautiful acres consisting of woodlands, manicured pastures, ponds, and spectacularly landscaped grounds. 

The House was built circa 1890 and contains one and one-half stories approx. 5593 sq. ft.  Features include large porches, a copper roof, hardwood floors, many fireplaces, totally modern kitchen; cypress molding, ceilings and panels; gun room, study, morning room, and a remarkable oval entrance hall.  The dining room mural was painted by Jennifer Rempel of Pittsburg in 1994 and contains only wildlife and vegetation indigenous to Woodside.

Other Improvements include a large barn circa 1870 that has been thoughtfully renovated in the interior with an exercise room, a walk-in wine cooler and a state of the art woodshop complete with a fireplace, high beamed ceilings and large windows.  A guest cottage overlooks a lake behind the "big house" and a caretaker's house is located near the main drive.

Woodside was originally part of a 75,000 acre grant in 1737.  Operated as a separate tract since 1881 the house was built in the early 1890's by a prominent Hampton County planter.  According to legend an architect gave the house plans to the owner as a wedding gift, but the architect's name is unknown.  The plantation has been owned since 1992 by its present owners who have maintained and improved the land and buildings.  Today the property is one of the most beautiful of the Carolina Plantations.

In order to protect this significant and historic property for future generations, a conservation easement has been given to The Nature Conservancy.
