ST. PHILLIPS ISLAND
The island is accessed from the mainland by boat. From the docking facilities on St. Phillips one normally travels by SUV or cart down a scenic four-mile trail to the house, every ride a nature tour.
Ted Turner purchased St. Phillips Island in 1979. The Turner family and their friends have enjoyed sailing, fishing and entertaining here for thirty-five years.
St. Phillips is protected under a conservation easement with The Nature Conservancy. The island is self-sufficient with its own water and power supply. Although there is a comfortable owner's residence and manager's house, the value of St. Phillips is in the land, the natural maritime forest, the long white sandy beaches, the location and the total privacy. The agreement with The Nature Conservancy allows for the island to be maintained in its pristine condition and for the addition of ten more residences.
